PARKERSBURG — A special Parkersburg Urban Renewal Authority meeting has been called for 6:30 p.m. Monday to consider a new offer on the first of two houses in the city’s affordable housing initiative.

Sitting as the authority on July 12, Parkersburg City Council members took no action on an $80,000 offer for the modular house at 906 15th St. Development Director Ryan Barber said Friday the new offer was from the same prospective buyers.

It’s one of two houses the URA voted to build using $500,000 in federal HOME funds to acquire the property and purchase and install the structures. Because of that funding source, the houses must be sold to buyers who will live in the house and are at or below 80 percent of the area’s median income.

City officials have long said they would not be able to sell the houses for as much as they spent on them. Some URA members indicated they were hoping for a higher offer than the initial amount.

The URA will meet Monday in council chambers on the second floor of the Municipal Building.
